During the ice age, water levels wer far lower than they are today. All of the water was in ice cap and glacier form, including some covering much of North America and much of Europe. When the ice melted, water levels began to rise and much of the richest coastal water was flooded.

Many estimate that most serious flooding of the coasts would have occurred between 20,000 and 10,000 B.C., meaning that a good deal of coastal civilization from that era could have been

Examples of ancient ruins that indicate potential links to underwater civilizations include:

  • Bimini Road in The Bahamas
  • The Bermuda Triangle
  • Yonaguni, Japan's, Underwater Geometric Stone Complex

  • Dogu Figures From the Jomon Period in Japan
  • The Legend of Atlantis
  • Hindu Ruins at the Gulf of Khambhat and Dwarka
